Rocky Chin is a City Council Candidate in District One. An attorney for Human Rights Campaign, Rocky has also devoted his energies to public interest law and the Asian Pacific American community. He is a founding member of the Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance and a member of the Advisory Board of New York Jobs with Justice. Rocky was also the recent recipient of this year’s Haywood Burns Civil Rights Award given by the New York State Bar Association.
National Association for Asian and Pacific American Education is an advocacy group providing information for the development of federal legislation that may impact the Asian and Pacific American communities to government agencies like the Department of Education. NAAPAE has been outspoken on issues such as the ESEA Title VII Bilingual Education Act, the Elementary and Secondary School Improvement Amendment of 1988, the Carl Perkins Vocational Act and the Refugee Education Act.
